Organic Crib Mattresses – Fire Retardant?

Organic is the trend–and it’s a good one–especially when it comes to anything having to do with babies. Organic clothing, organic crib bedding, natural hard wood (rubber wood) cribs, and organic crib mattresses are the way to go whenever possible.  Why? Because they’re not only safer for the environment, but safer for a newborn’s delicate constitution.

I’ve found Natural Mat’s organic crib mattresses to be among the best in the industry for the following reasons:

Breathability:  Natural fibers are inherently breathable and allow a constant circulation of air, preventing your baby from overheating.

Washable:  They have removable pure cotton outer covers that are machine washable at 60 degrees C–dust mites are killed at 57 degrees.

Wool batting:  Far more resilient with better ventilation and insulation properties than cotton.

Naturally fire retardant:  Their mattresses pass all fire regulations without the use of chemical or unnatural treatments–they use only natural fire retardants in each of their organic crib mattresses.
